Which Breath Of God Do You Have Today?
Tuesday, May 6
Genesis 2:7 (NIV)
“Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
Devoción
Every living person carries the image and the breath of God in the sense of living and breathing as Adam did. But death entered the world through sin, and the clock is ticking on all of us. This is why Jesus teaches us to pray for our daily bread. And we don't live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
There is a greater and more important breath of God available to us through Jesus – God the Holy Spirit. After his resurrection, Jesus breathed on his disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:22) Just as our physical bodies need to keep eating bread, drinking water, and breathing oxygen, so also, our spirits need to keep feeding on God's word, asking for God's living water, and renewing our breath of God through the Holy Spirit.

Querido Padre Celestial,
I confess that I don't pray for Your Holy Spirit every day. Sometimes I go for a while thinking I have him with me, but Your presence seems to diminish over time. I pray that I don't grieve Your Holy Spirit through sin, and when I do, I invite Your conviction and correction, so I can ask for forgiveness quickly and be restored. Fill me anew with Your Holy Spirit. Show me what fruit of the spirit I am most lacking and what gifts of the spirit I should pray for day to day to better serve those around me. Hold me close to Your heart, and by Your Spirit, let me know that I am Your child, that I will see You face to face, and that I will share an inheritance with Jesus. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

As you ask for God the Holy Spirit each day, make it practical. Ask for the fruit of the Holy Spirit (listed in Galatians 5:22-23) to give you victory over the desires of your sinful nature. Ask for the gift of prophecy (which Scripture tells us to eagerly desire) to speak words of life and truth to yourself and those around you. Ask for a touch from Abba Father to testify to your spirit that you are God's child.
