Where Are You?

Genesis 3:9 (NKJV)
“Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
Devoción
This was not a question of inquiry regarding Adam’s whereabouts, for God knows all things (and still does). It was the heartbreaking voice of God calling for His friend, all the while knowing their fellowship had been broken. The dreadful decision Adam and Eve made to go against God’s instructions resulted in sin. That sin put an extreme distance between them and their Creator. That day in the Garden of Eden, the walks in the coolness of the day between man and his Creator, ended.
Until … Love reached down with His eternal benevolence and restored the bridge to man through Christ Jesus. What God intended since the beginning of the creation of man, had been restored through Christ: the ability for fellowship, close communion and friendship with God, was now possible through Christ’s redemption, the Spirit of Truth and His Word. “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7)
Today, the question posed to us by His Spirit is: “Where are you?” The God Who took specific care to mold us with His own hands after His own image and likeness, still desires a close fellowship, so much so, that the bible also calls the Body of Christ, the ‘Bride of Christ’. We are reminded in Matthew chapter 25 of individuals who were ready to meet the Bridegroom. Their lamps (the Word of God, Psalm 119:105) and their individual containers were full of oil (the anointing, Holy Spirit). The ones who were not ready, fell short and when they finally arrived at the wedding feast, the Lord replied, “Surely, I do not know you.” We cannot underestimate the value of our personal prayer time and study of the Word of God. These days, we must stay connected to Him.
This is an exhortation for our time. Jesus is coming again to receive us to himself. There is a time of preparation, of reconciliation, of returning back to him and a time to come back Home. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.“ (near-karov (Heb.) meaning ‘close enough to touch’) Yes, that close. He promises, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord …” He wants to be found. It’s time to draw near.

Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank You that You looked for me and called my name. Thank You that You still call my name. Help me be receptive and attentive. Help me to draw near to You. Help me forsake sins and distractions. Help me keep oil in my lamp. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
