Psalm 149:3 (NKJV)

“Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.”

Praise brings breakthrough. Praise gets you through the storm. Praise changes situations. Praise moves mountains. Praise… praise… praise. Make praise a lifestyle.

The Scripture tells us to praise the Lord with dance. Let’s think about that for a minute. How many plan to start dancing through the church aisle Sunday morning? Or maybe in the kitchen while preparing dinner? If you’re honest, was your first thought, “That is silly—that is nonsense”? Probably most of us would refrain from praising through dance.

Now let’s think this through. Have you ever done a victory dance when your sports team wins or your team gets a touchdown? You jump up, throwing both hands in the air aimlessly, in a hunched-over stance, knocking both knees together countless times while moving from side to side. Sure. We all have. That’s not silly, right? No. You are praising your team and celebrating the victory.

What better victory to celebrate than Jesus conquering the grave? What better victory than a cancer patient being declared cancer-free, the man or woman beside you resisting temptation and remaining faithful to their spouse, or the college student choosing to remain pure until marriage? Every praise is due our God! Yes and amen.

And the Scripture stating to praise Him with dance is about physical body movement: clapping your hands, lifting up holy hands, fist-pumping in the air, swaying from side to side, and stomping our feet.

Do you remember the classic: “I went to the enemy’s camp and took back what he stole from me!” We physically take it back, reaching out and bringing it back to us—whatever “it” was that Satan thought he stole!

Then: “He’s under my feet; Satan is under my feet!” We physically jump up and down, pointing back to hell, where Satan belongs.

Yes—praise His name with dance, exalting the Lord Most High with our entire being.

“Praise Him with the timbrel and harp.” The timbrel and harp are instruments used in playing and praising Him. Play a song of praise!

So, until God opens the next door, praise Him in the hallway.

Querido Padre Celestial,

Thank You for being so good to us. Help me to make praise and worship a lifestyle. Give me boldness to praise You in the storm, even if I am standing alone. I pray I will always choose to praise You and choose You over and over again, making praise as easy as breathing. May praise forever be on my lips. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
