Time in the Tabernacle
Sunday, April 14
Exodus 33:11 (ESV)
“So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of NUN, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle..”
Devoción
Moses was God’s chosen leader and Joshua, his assistant, gleaned from his faithfulness. He learned from Moses’ example the value of spending time in communion with God and listening to His guidance. He saw first-hand the closeness Moses had with the Lord. We cannot have a close relationship with God if we don’t spend time with Him. We need to spend time in church, hearing from what God is saying to our leaders, and praying with and for others.
When we don’t invest in quality time with the Lord, we won’t know what to do and will lack wisdom. Without that time with Him, we will be weak and ineffective, because we have not accessed the power that is available to us. It’s like trying to dry your hair without plugging in the hair dryer. Nothing happens.
Pastor Franklin referenced Zechariah 4:6 in his message last Sunday when he said, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.” This means if we are not plugged into Him, we will have no power at all. Willpower and human strength will only go so far, then comes exhaustion and weariness. But with God, all things are possible. This can only happen when we spend time with Him. You cannot expect to make a difference if you don’t spend time with God. Take time to commune with God today. Even though others will never know the amount of intimate time you spend with your Heavenly Father, He will, and He will reward you for it.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank You for patiently waiting for me to come and spend precious time with You. I confess that I am not always faithful to commune with You daily. But I do have the desire to grow closer to You and hear Your voice and promptings in all that concern me. I commit that I will make changes in my schedule so that I will not be rushed through my time with You each day. I long to be faithful to You, just as You are to me. Help me to remember to put You first. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

As you finish today’s prayer, don’t end it there. Take time to talk with God about all that concerns you. Listen to His promptings and follow His guidance. If He brings a scripture to mind, look it up and ask Him to speak to you through the passage. Give God twice as much time today as you normally do, and you will be amazed how that time grows without you even realizing it.
