The Transforming Power Of Grace

Romans 5:20 (NIV)
“The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,”
Devoción

Romans 5:20 reveals the profound nature of God's grace. Though the law exposes our sinfulness, God’s grace abounds even more, offering hope and restoration to those who turn to Him. This grace is unmerited favor, extending forgiveness and power to overcome sin. It is through this grace that humanity, broken by the fall of Adam, is invited to be restored to the original image of God. In Genesis 1:27, the Bible tells us, "So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them."

Sin distorted this divine image, separating us from God and His perfect will. But through grace, accessed by repentance and faith, we are restored. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" When we repent and turn from sin, God renews us, restoring His image within us.
Grace is not a license to sin; it is the power to live righteously. As Titus 2:11-12 says, "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age." This means grace empowers us to reject sin and walk in obedience, reflecting God’s holiness in our lives.

Grace compels us to love others and not judge or condemn. We are called to pray for those in sin, showing them the same mercy we have received. Isaiah 1:18 reminds us of God's heart: “Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Grace restores and transforms, and we are charged to share this message with others.

Are you living in the fullness of God’s grace, turning from sin, and walking in His restoration? Ask God to help you reflect His image in every area of your life and to extend His love and grace to others.

Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank You for Your grace. I confess I don't fully understand the depths and the riches of Your grace so as to extend it most perfectly to others as You have extended it to me. I confess that I have not fully learned to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions. Lord God, I plead the blood of Jesus and I ask You to perfect Your grace in my life. Increase the work of Your grace in my life. In the Name of Jesus, I Pray. Amen.

Some may question our involvement with those labeled as sinful, or our generosity as a ministry to the community without a doctrinal checklist. Followers of Jesus are called to be discerning, and to be wise with time and money. Be assured, these activities are a planned part of many ways Free Chapel works to spread the gospel. Some will be drawn to Christ through cords of human kindness (Hosea 11:4), and it is good to help those in need (Proverbs 19:17). What will you do?
