The Secret Strength
Monday, July 14
Philippians 4:11-13 (NKJV)
“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Contentment isn’t passive. It’s a fight. A quiet, holy kind of strength that doesn’t shout, but stands. It’s the strength to stay when you want to run. The strength to praise when you’d rather complain. The strength to say, “God is enough,” even when everything in you wants more.
Paul didn’t say he woke up content. He said, “I learned.”
It was a process. A surrender. A laying down of what he thought life should be, to embrace what God had for him in every season. Plenty or lack. Full or empty. Paul found the secret: It was never about the circumstance, it was about the Source.
You don’t need the perfect season to have peace.
You just need the right strength. Christ in you—not just to lift the heavy things, but to carry the quiet things too.The disappointments. The waiting. The daily unseen faithfulness that nobody applauds. And when your heart starts whispering, “This isn’t enough…” let your spirit rise and say, “But Christ is.”
Because that’s the secret. Not that we always feel strong—but that we are always held by strength Himself.
Today's Prayer
Querido Padre Celestial,
Teach me the strength of contentment. Help me to let go of the need for more, and rest in the truth that You are enough. In plenty or in lack, make me steady in You.
Help me learn, like Paul, that my peace is not in what I have, but in who holds me. Strengthen me for this season, and make me faithful in it. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Contentment is neither laziness nor the opposite of zeal. When you feel discontentment, think about it and try to identify what exactly you are discontent about, and why. Whether your discontentment is righteous, fleshly, or some combination, be honest with God and desire contentment.
