The Scriptures Fulfilled

John 19:36 (NIV)
“These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,”
Devoción
In this passage, John assures us that the details of Christ’s death occurred in a way that brought Scripture to complete fulfillment. The Psalmist wrote the Messiah in his time of disgrace and shame would be offered wine vinegar to drink (Psalms 69:21). The prophet Zechariah foretold the piercing of the Messiah (Zechariah 12:10), and the prophecy of Jesus’ bones not being broken are found in three different Scriptures (Exodus 12:46; Numbers 9:12; Psalms 34:20), assuring us that Christ is the One whom the prophets predicted would come.
The Scriptures encourage us in so many ways. We rejoice in knowing our Messiah has come. We trust that God will fulfill His promises. We know that no detail is too small for God to notice. We receive eternal life actively live in the world and share our faith with others. We are assured that God’s power can reside in us.
And best of all, we have supreme comfort only the Son of God can give us, with a promise that he will come back to take us with him to his Father’s house—heaven— a place more glorious than anything we can imagine or dream of.
Until then, following Christ is where we will find rest, and when we do, we will no longer wonder about God’s will for our lives, we are living it.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank You for revealing these things to us that remind us of Your faithfulness. Just as You foretold through the prophets of Your son’s path to fulfilling Your plan for his death, resurrection, ascension, and our salvation. Help us to trust You with our present circumstances and an unknown future, so we can rest in You and have confidence to share the Gospel with a lost and dying world. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
