The Father of Lights

Matthew 2:1-3 (ESV)
“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;”
Devoción
Notice that the wise men planned to worship Jesus before they received anything from “the King of the Jews.” They never expected a newborn in a manger, but they worshiped him anyway. They moved in a direction of something divine and larger than life itself. A cosmic orchestration was being displayed before them, and they chose to chase after it.
Invisible movements in the heavens are planned with such detail that, when we see the star (light), we can move toward it with an expectation that our Father organized each moment.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”James 1:17 ESV
If all you do is gaze on the world around you, you’ll be filled with troubles and worries, even false narratives. Keep your eyes fixed expectantly on the earth-maker, star-maker, galaxy-maker, seeking him always before your feet touch the floor.
“O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonderConsider all the worlds Thy hands have made;I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,Thy power throughout the universe displayed” (How Great Thou Art - Hymn)
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
I stand amazed and worship You who flung the stars in space and created the land and seas. You who watches the sparrow to feed the birds of the air, who knows my thoughts from afar off, and who is acquainted with all my ways. Your knowledge is too wonderful for me. I worship You because there is no God like You nor besides You. I call You my God and my King. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

The “fear of the Lord” is also known as the “awe of God”. When we consider the magnitude of God’s creation and how He holds the stars in place, we can have confidence that He also holds every detail of our lives. Stand in awe and worship Him, our Lord, and God of Creation.
