Know Him Again
Genesis 4:25-26 (NKJV)
“And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.” And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD.”
Devoción
The name Seth means “appointed.” Seth was appointed by God to arrive at that time, to bring comfort to Eve. God will always have an appointment for us to comfort us. These past two weeks in this New Year, it seems we have had our share of losses and defeats. We may have exclaimed like Gideon did, “Where are all the miracles?”
The Bible tells us in John 16:21 that when a woman who is pregnant comes to that appointed time to deliver; the pain, discomfort, and anguish are at its highest level until the baby is birthed. The joy that follows in that moment overtakes all the pain and sorrow.
We are prone to worship and praise God when things are going well for us. We find it hard to call on the name of the Lord when we are battling things. Especially when we have stumbled so many times in defeat and loss. We find it difficult to praise and worship God in our pain, anguish, and distress.
We are all discovering in this time of consecration that God has an appointment for us- a “due date.” Hold on just a little while longer. Joy is coming!
Cain said in Genesis 4:13, “My punishment is greater than I can bear!” Galatians 4:4 speaks, “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.”
This is why Jesus came. Thank God Jesus came, born of God that we may be born again in Christ.
Oración de hoy
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Free Chapel and the leadership of the church for shepherding us through this fast. Thank You for the challenges and the trials. Thank You for meeting with me in Your word and for dwelling with me through Your Holy Spirit. But most of all, I thank You for Your son Jesus, who fasted 40 days, overcame temptation from the devil, lived a sinless life, died for my sins, and rose from the dead. Help us to overcome temptation in the coming days and to reflect the love, power, and character of Jesus. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Scripture encourages us, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).” If you are weeping over sin, a loss, a setback, or uncertainty, do not weep as those who have no hope. Weep in surrender, weep in trust in Jesus our Savior. Weeping is not sinful in this attitude. Pray this verse and ask that the morning come soon.
