Leading In Our Humanity
1 Corinthians 1:21 (ESV)
“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.”
Devoción
In 1 Corinthians 1:18, Paul declares that the message of the cross is foolishness to the world, then goes on to say in verse 21, that even in our humanity, God can take what we preach and save those who believe. God is not looking for the most intelligent, the greatest orators, or those whom the world puts on a pedestal, rather He is looking for those who will seek Him and live in His ways, to change the world.
He designed the church to have multiple overseers who hold titles such as elders and deacons and those who serve in the ministry; Pastors, teachers, evangelists, apostles, and prophets. He lays it on the hearts of prayer warriors, intercessors, and watchmen, to pray and fast for those within the church, both leaders and congregants, as well as the unsaved in the world. Interestingly, He chooses to use us in our humanity to carry out the greatest, and most rewarding, responsibility.
Why did God not send angels to see this task to completion? Why does He not just speak audibly to each person, and guide us along each step of our paths? Could it be that the world will more readily receive the message of salvation through those of us who have the same struggles and daily concerns as them, yet can walk in unity with Him and His Word?
As we live in these end times, it is imperative now more than ever, that we lift our church leaders and our Christian brothers and sisters in prayer. Our lifestyles must be an example of the Word of God coming to life. We must all be about our Father’s business of leading the world to salvation through Jesus Christ.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
I love You and I thank You for leading and guiding me as I do my part to lead and guide others to You. Thank You for giving me a spirit-filled church that challenges me to rid myself of my selfish desires and draw closer to You. I lift my pastors and church leaders to You and ask that You give them Your perfect wisdom, guidance, peace, and joy as they lead us, so that we may be equipped to lead those with whom we come into contact each day. Please provide all of us within the church the wisdom and discernment we need to be about Your business. Lord, in my humanity, I ask that You use me to lead the lost to You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Are you being a living example of Christ to those around you each day; at home, school, work, church, the grocery store, and anywhere your daily tasks lead you? Are you showing Jesus to the cashier, the waiter, the co-worker, the young people in your path, friends on social media, and others with whom you could have influence? Think about ways you could be the hands and feet of Jesus to your daily contacts and determine to do so.
