The Crisis Is The Confirmation

Thursday, October 10

Joshua 3:14-16 (NKJV)
“So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest), that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. So the waters that went down into the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.”

The day finally arrived for the Israelites to cross the Jordan and enter the Promised Land. Joshua was now leading the Israelites. From the beginning, God told Joshua, “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

When Joshua and the Israelites finally saw the Jordan, it was more vast and intimidating than usual. It had overflowing banks. It was flooded. Imagine spending 40 years pursuing a promise, just to face an unexpected crisis at the last moment that makes everything more daunting and complicated. Crossing the Jordan seemed impossible enough. Surely, the flood would put the plans in jeopardy.

Despite how bad the crisis may look, God’s promises don’t change. God required the Israelites to stick their feet in the flooded waters, with faith, so He could part the Jordan for them. And He did. Even if it feels like there is a flood happening today - election uncertainty, a bad economy, wars, violence, and storms - be strong and of good courage. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. The crisis is the confirmation of the coming harvest. The blessing is close. The harvest needs the flood in order to prosper. The crisis isn’t punishment, it’s purification. The enemy will do everything he can to disrupt the plans of God. But, as the Prophet Isaiah said, “no weapon formed against you shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). The enemy may send a flood, but God will make it into a harvest.

Oración de hoy

Querido Padre Celestial,
I offer You praise and thanksgiving for faithfully being my way-maker, even as the enemy does everything in his power to stop Your plans through me. I know his power is limited, but Yours has no limits. Thank You for giving me the courage to step into the waters, the fire, or whatever the enemy may throw at me to try to get me off course. Help me to never be fearful of him as I keep my eyes on You. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

What crisis are you facing today? What has the enemy placed in your path to try and deter you? Whatever it is, remember, you have a God who is greater and more powerful than any attacks of the enemy. Spend some time talking with your Heavenly Father today, pouring out your heart to Him, then be mindful of what He speaks to your heart.
