Suffering For Passover

Wednesday, April 19

Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.
Exodus 12:3
Devoción

In ancient times, a man’s wealth was judged by the number of sheep in his flock; sheep were extremely valuable commodities. A man without any sheep was literally destitute. Losing or wasting even one sheep was a great sacrifice.

Yet the Lord commanded all his people to sacrifice a lamb and to use all of the parts of the lamb all at once.

The Lord was commanding them to sacrifice the one thing they owned that ensured their security. He was asking His people to trust in the sacrifice; that when the plagues hit the Egyptians, He would pass over their homes where the blood of the lamb was placed on their door posts.

God knew that this suffering from the obedient sacrifice of a lamb would yield salvation for many.

There's a greater purpose to your season of sacrifice. Trust the process and trust the God seasons.

Today’s Prayer
Dear God,
I surrender my understanding of how things ought to be, my choices and my will. I surrender every battle, every trial and every challenging situation.

Help me not to fear the future but to boldly trust that you are in control when my emotions plunge me down, and when I am in despair. Amen!

Apply it Today
