Semicolon Of Truth

Matthew 26:29-30 (NKJV)
“I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.”
Devoción

Are you going through a season of waiting? Or feeling the great pain of depression, grief, or loneliness? Maybe life altogether feels like a heavy weight on your chest that seems as though all the pain is never ending. Jesus felt that too.

In Matthew 26, Jesus shows us a true example that there is still hope even through the weight of your sorrow. At the last supper, Jesus knew what was about to happen to him, great suffering, agony, betrayal, abandonment, and death. Even though the dark cloud of uncertainty loomed over him, he chose to fix his eyes on the glass bottle of hope, trusting in the joy that would one day be restored.
As Jesus waited for all the pain he was about to endure, he worshiped and sang a hymn (Matthew 26:30). We likewise should do the same…worship in the pain and suffering.

Sing praises, for He is a God who heals and feels. You are not alone, and the pain you’re feeling is not the author of your story, Christ is.
Honor the Lord even when everything around you and in you is breaking.
“‘But I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.’” (Matthew 26:29).
In this verse, Jesus is telling us that he isn’t going to drink the fruit of the vine until we’re in the kingdom with him. A semicolon was placed on Jesus’ story at this moment, death is coming but resurrection is too.

Within your story you hold an “until”. There isn’t a period to your story, rather, there is a semicolon of truth from our Lord and Savior, joy and peace is coming your way. Philippians 1:6 says, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” God always finishes what He starts, He’s working even in the dark moments of life.

Today's Prayer

Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank You for showing us what it means to trust in the Father even in moments of deep sorrow and uncertainty. When life feels heavy and painful, help us to fix our eyes on You, our hope, our healer, our faithful finisher. Teach us to worship through our tears, to sing even when it hurts, and to remember that our story is not over. You are the Author, and You have placed a semicolon where the enemy tried to put a period. Fill us with confidence in Your promises and peace in Your presence. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

This week, identify one area in your life that feels unfinished, broken, or painful. Write a declaration over it using this phrase:
“This is not the end; it’s the semicolon of truth. God is still writing.”
Every day, take a few minutes to worship, yes, even through your tears, knowing that resurrection follows suffering and God is not done with your story.
