Rise Again

Proverbs 24:16 (NIV)
“for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.”
Devoción
Can you summon the will to fight on and rise again? This is a question we may need to ask ourselves many times in our lives. When setbacks come our way, when we seem to face failure after failure, when disappointments keep flooding in, can we summon the will to fight on and rise again? It can feel like the easy way out to just give up and move on, but we must keep pressing forward.

Although a baby who is learning to walk will stumble and fall many times, they never give up. They have a determination to excel at this new milestone in their development. They fall down and rise again, time after time after time.
In the same way, if we know we are walking in the will of God and pursuing the dreams and goals He has set before us, then even when we fall, we must continue to trust Him and rise again.

We may find ourselves wanting to wallow in defeat and disappointment, but it is during those times especially that we need to encourage ourselves with God’s Word. It’s so crucial that we are spending time studying and memorizing scripture, so that when we face the trials in this world we will be fully equipped with the strength of God’s Word to push us to rise again.

Querido Padre Celestial,

I confess that many things I try do not work – at least it does not yield the results I pictured in my mind. Give me wisdom regarding whether such “failures” come from chasing fantasies, from obeying with unrealistic expectations, or from something else. Thank You for Your promise that I can move forward in trust with a good conscience. Help me do a better job discerning Your will, and getting the key details right to bear fruit for Your kingdom. I want to chase the visions and dreams You put in my heart, not false promises from other sources. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Do you need to repent of doing wrong and start doing right in some area of your life? Is there an area of life where you need to choose to “get up” and keep going? The ability to carry out these heart decisions comes from Jesus. Like King David, pray that the Holy Spirit leads you to Jesus, the rock who is higher and stronger than we are. Followers of Jesus can declare, “God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26)
