Remain Faithful

Joshua 2:18-19 (KJV)
“Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee. And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.”
Devoción
Rahab knew destruction was coming. The walls of Jericho were still standing, yet she chose to believe the God of Israel before she ever saw those walls fall. She was given a promise, an instruction, and a sign—a line of scarlet thread to bind in her window. By faith, Rahab obeyed.
Rahab’s faith was in God, not in the scarlet thread. Hebrews 11:31 tells us, “By faith… Rahab perished not with them that believed not.” When Jericho eventually fell, God kept His promise and preserved Rahab and her household (Joshua 6:22–25).
Throughout Scripture, we see how one person’s faith and obedience can profoundly impact others. Rahab’s obedience did not affect her alone—the members of her household were brought into a place of refuge. Yet God was the One who ultimately delivered and preserved them.
“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” — Nahum 1:7
It began with Rahab’s faith in God and a line of scarlet thread, and generations later, Rahab would become part of the lineage of our Savior, Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5), who shed His blood to rescue us from the penalty of sin (Ephesians 1:7).
Our obedience matters, too. It does not affect only us; our choices can influence our homes, our children, and generations after us. We are called to pray, stand against wickedness, teach God’s Word, guard what we allow into our homes, and faithfully point our families toward Jesus.
Joshua declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15).
Those seeking refuge in Rahab’s house were instructed to remain inside. Likewise, Jesus tells us, “Abide in me” (John 15:4). Abide means to remain. Remain in Christ. Remain in His Word. Remain faithful even when you cannot see what God is doing.
“He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” — Psalm 91:2
Rahab believed. She received the instruction and obeyed. She gathered her household into the place of refuge, where they remained, and when destruction came, God proved faithful.
So, remain faithful, for God is faithful.

Querido Padre Celestial,
Help us to remain faithful to You even when we cannot see what You are doing. Give us the courage to obey Your Word, stand firm in righteousness, and lead our families toward Jesus. May our faithfulness create a place of refuge for those entrusted to us. In the Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
