Moses spoke these words to Israel reminding them of the first commandment: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” The Almighty God of Moses, David, and Daniel remains the same today. He is reminding us to put no one above Him.

Throughout all of the distractions and temptations that this world offers us, we must not allow anything to take the first place in our heart. Things that we might not even consider as idols can often lead to strongholds in our hearts without us even realizing it. This week, let’s focus on what easily grasps our attention, what easily frustrates us if we don’t get it, and what we spend the majority of our time on.

Let’s refocus our eyes on the Heavenly Father who remains the same throughout the ages.

Querido Padre Celestial,

I give you my heart, my mind and my life. I choose to serve no other god except you, the one true God. Forgive me for the times I have not put you first, the times when distractions took over and I lost sight of you. I fix my eyes on you, the author and finisher of my faith. Have your way in my life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

When you wake up in the morning, what’s the first thing you do? Many of us are quick to check the phone, grab a cup of coffee or just lay down while planning the day. Make prayer and quality time with God your number one priority. Seek Him and His Kingdom first, then everything else will fall into place.
