Genuine prayer is a language from the heart. It is a heart that is open, honest, and without pretense before the Lord. The transparent prayer cries out, “Lord, I need You. I cannot do this on my own.” It comes from a posture of humility, one in which God will never turn away. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” When we draw near to God in prayer and make supplications, He draws near to us as we seek Him.

Jesus, our Great Shepherd, wants us to cast upon him every burden and every care. It is a known fact that anxiety amongst a flock of sheep, triggered by fear or irritableness, can cause the sheep to drop weight, lose hair and not reproduce. Jesus cares for us so deeply, that he doesn’t want us to be anxious or fret - about anything. The tool that he left us is prayer, so we could communicate with Him, 24/7. Did you notice? Anytime you call on his name, he is always there – in the night watches and throughout the day. He is quick to attend to our cries. (Psalm 130:2; Nehemiah 1:6,11)

As you make your requests known, (and don’t forget to thank Him), His very presence will rest upon you. Philippians 4:7 continues, “and the peace of God, which surpasses understanding (human reasoning), will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” That’s shalom. God’s peace - that shuts down every voice and every thought contrary to His word, His will and that which causes distress. His peace brings you into the faith realm – where impossibilities are possible, a place where God intervenes for you. He is near you and wants to help. 

That is why we pray. Every answer to prayer is a miracle - a touch from the Master’s hand. Pray always and rejoice, for your prayers are being heard in heaven!

I love You and I thank You for caring for me enough that no prayer goes unheard, no tear is unseen, and no thought is unknown by You. What an awesome God and Father You are, to love and care for me in such a way! I am grateful for the peace You provide during the storms and uncertainties of life. Truly, I am always on Your mind. Mere words can never suffice to express the depths of my love and gratitude for You; I am thankful You see it within my heart. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
