Overstepping

2 Chronicles 26:18 (NKJV)
And they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Get out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed. You shall have no honor from the Lord God.”
Devoción
In scripture, we are reminded of yet “another” who overstepped; David when he entered the temple to take of the showbread that was not only consecrated for the priests, but for the consumption by the priests (1 Samuel 21:4). And there are other instances in the Old Covenant, when both kings and priests overstepped. Certainly not maliciously, yet God had Rules and protocol that had to be followed.
As Believers, we must never question God. We may question God when we do not know things, but never to question God’s motives toward us as His children, because then we question His Character. “When we know to do right, and we do not do it, this is sin.” (James 4:17)
We are able to enjoy life in this New Covenant, because of our Lord, Jesus who is our Faithful High Priest and King of kings. We have been given access to the throne of grace, where we can receive mercy in time of need and clarity for the answers we seek, as we enter His Presence to offer up incense through worship, and partake of the daily bread and to drink from the cup.
How often, as believers, do we still think we must follow rigid protocols when approaching the Lord's presence? We must remember that the veil has been torn in two. We have full access to God. We do not need permission. God will never withhold us from entering His sanctuary.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank You that the veil has been torn in two and I have full access to Your throne room by the blood of Jesus. Thank You that You are present wherever two or more are gathered in Your name, and that You give Your Holy Spirit if I ask, so that my own body becomes a temple of Your Holy Spirit. Help me not to grieve Your Holy Spirit through presumption or immorality. I invite correction through the Holy Spirit and pray that through Him, You would help me walk in a manner worthy of my calling. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen

We are invited to lay the heavy things that weigh us down at the feet of Jesus and to bring our cares to him (1 Peter 5:6). This characteristic of God has always been true (Psalm 55:22), but now each believer is invited to a personal relationship. Pay attention to yourself during your private prayers today, whether in this dedicated time or throughout the day. In your words or emotions, are you questioning God’s motives toward you as His child? Quieten your heart and trust Him. He loves you more, and He loves you better than anyone else.
