“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

In our theme scripture today– We receive the following; warning not to neglect our responsibility of Godly gatherings, (meetings or assemblies). This verse reminds us that no Christian has ever been called to walk in his or her faith alone.
Let us ponder a bit deeper into this verse, and what God is really trying to tell us through the author of the book of Hebrews.

First, we see the undeniable fact that we as reborn followers of Christ have an undeniable need for Christian Fellowship, believers are meant to be drawn first close to God with a true heart, but the fact remains that the only way for a true follower of Christ to manifest the love of God, is through our relationship with others.
Jesus in the book of Matthew 5:43-44 reminds us of one of the most important commandments humanity has ever received, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor.’” The Love for one’s neighbor was one of God’s commandments through Moses in the book of Leviticus 19:18.

When answering the test of a legal expert about the greatest commandment in the law, Jesus replied with the commandment to love God and to love one’s neighbor as oneself.
This leads us to one of the most important revelations known to man. We will never be truly committed believers, until we understand this principle and apply it daily in our lives.
We must learn to love what God loves, and what does God love? God loves the “unlovable” and wants us as believers, to demonstrate acts of love daily in our lives in every possible imaginable way, to those that have not felt His love.

Secondly, God wants us as believers to have accountability in our relationships, 2 Corinthians 5:9, “So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.”
Another way of demonstrating our Love for God is keeping one another accountable. Being an encouragement to your fellow brothers and sisters of faith. Jesus prayed in John 17:20-23, “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank You for reminding us each day of the importance of fellowship in the body of Christ, and how this impacts us daily. Help me to understand the importance of being grounded in my faith. Help me to represent You as You deserve to be represented. Help me to love what You love, so I can be a positive influence to those in need and to those who need positive role models in their lives. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen

The Bible gives specific ways believers are to encourage each other, including meeting together and being accountable. Believers are to encourage one another toward “love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10:24) Another way to encourage one another is with “songs, hymns, and spiritual songs.” (Ephesians 5:19) Do you need to get into a spiritual community? If you have a spiritual “crew,” can you identify ways you are loving your neighbors and encouraging fellow believers? This is part of your spiritual service to the glory of God. If you don’t know what to do, take time to pray for Godly answers on how to be more involved in your congregation and community.
