Mighty Men Of God. Adding Worth To Weight.

1 Timothy 5:8 (NKJV)
“But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

A man is a man. A man will always be a man. As far as biology is concerned, a man's biological gender is typically identified by the presence of XY chromosomes in his cells.

God’s greatest crowning work was the creation of man. Man was created in the image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:26)

When God sees man, He sees Himself. After God created Adam, He put him in the garden to tend and keep it. (Genesis 2:8)

Which is why in man’s composition, he instinctively is a protector and provider, by design. The man desires to promote and cause his family to grow and increase.

From their earliest memory, a child sees their father as the provider and protector of the family, the guardian of the home, and the companion to their mother.

God gave man authority over all the affairs of his household. He gave Adam the authority to protect and nurture all living things in the garden. God allowed Adam to name all the animals, and whatever name Adam gave them, that is what they were called. (Genesis 2:19) This highlights the utmost importance of a husband and father speaking life over his wife and children, when he calls them by name, he is declaring identity and purpose.

The Bible says in 1 Samuel 10:6, “then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them, and be turned into another man.”

Just as it was in the beginning when God breathed His own life into man, appointing him as the protector and provider for his family and household, so it remains a high calling for men of God today. Their honor and strength come from the Lord, who is the glory and the lifter of their head (Psalm 3:3).

Today's Prayer

Querido Padre Celestial,
I confess that I don't always like the thorns and thistles and the sweat of my brow that accompany work as a result of Adam's sin. I confess that I do not always count these trials as pure joy, as Scripture instructs. Yet I thank You for these redemptive disciplines that You have given to men in our work. I thank You further for the anointing on husbands and fathers as prophets, priests, and kings in our homes. Help us as prophets to hear from You and guide each member of our household in Your way. Help us as priests to pray for each member of our household and to offer ongoing sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving for the gift each is to us. Help us as kings to be servants and foot washers first, giving ourselves up after the pattern of Jesus. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

If you are in a household with a father, if you have a father or father figure who is still living, or if you have a spiritual father in Christ, take time today to pray for that person. Even if they are not in Christ, pray for them and give thanks for them. Pray that God would give them wisdom and draw them closer to Himself, the Heavenly Father after whom all fatherhood derives its name.
