Men Die Once, then Judgment Comes

Saturday, July 19

Hebrews 9:27 (NKJV)
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,”

The movie “The Family Man” reminds us of the fragility of life. One major decision takes us further and further away from what we are meant to do and what we are meant to be. We may think that we can easily go back and still pursue the plans we set out to do in the first place. What we fail to see is that when we put money over God, we go down a dizzying road that makes us want so much more; an insatiable appetite that takes us so far away from God.

We are but a vapor that vanishes in an instant. When we die and have not lived for Jesus, we will end up in the judgment seat of God and be eternally separated from God.
Death brings no second chances. We will be judged accordingly: to heaven, when Jesus is our Lord and Savior; to hell, when we turn our back from God and follow our own evil desires.

Today's Prayer

Querido Padre Celestial,
Forgive me for being selfish and pursuing empty dreams and wanting the blessings more than You, the Blesser. I surrender all to You, Lord and I empty myself unto You. Fill me with Your Spirit and let me overflow! Use me Lord to bring the Gospel of Your salvation to the nations. I am Yours. Help me be a good parent; a good child to my parents; a good servant to my leaders; a vessel of peace to all I meet; and, an obedient child of God, obeying You in all things. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

The pursuit of noble professions and doing good work is not a bad thing. But when we desire to amass wealth as an end goal and not as an outcome of obeying God and pursuing Him, we have lost our way. Our life should be a wonderful song of praise unto our God; putting Him first; inquiring of His clear direction for our life; and, doing His will and purpose. When we pursue Jesus and His righteousness, “all these things shall be added unto you.” Only Jesus saves. He is the only way to heaven.
