Melt Us Like Butter

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Devoción

Wow! Just let that verse sink in a bit. We didn’t deserve Jesus. He is love and showed us love when He came to earth to save us, when He stretched His arms out on the cross, when He was put in the grave, and when He ascended to Heaven. He continuously shows us love.

He chose to take sin’s place and to show us grace. We will never have a way to repay Him. But through Jesus, we can be forgiven, we can have hope, and we can have a future in Him. We can get into the presence of the Lord daily, seeking His perfect will and allowing Him to cleanse us and clean our hearts and minds.

When we give our lives to the Lord, He begins to soften and shape our hearts. And as we continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus, sin should become revolting to us. Like when something stinks and we cover our noses or just stay away, sin should become the same way. We should just want to stay away.

Consider how many times a day you wash your hands because they become dirty. Our hearts and minds—our thoughts—are the same way. We should wash our hearts and minds spiritually speaking, constantly throughout our day, asking Jesus to “melt us like butter” so we never become hard and He can continue to mold us.

Don’t you want to be so sensitive to the Lord that you are in the very place He has called you to be daily? Or that you are willing to “leave the room” if that isn’t where the Lord wanted you to be in the first place?

What if it is as simple as giving up a TV show or turning off the radio? Are you willing?

Yes, Lord! Use us, change us, melt us like butter!

May we become the righteousness of God in Him.

Querido Padre Celestial,

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your goodness and grace. Lord, my prayer is that You melt me like butter so that I am so sensitive to Your Spirit that not only do I desire to turn away from sin, but my words are also sensitive to my brothers and sisters around me. May You shine so brightly through me that the world sees You. Lord, use me to win souls for heaven and to be a good, godly leader. In the things I ask of You, may You receive all honor and glory. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Take a moment today to ask the Lord to reveal anything in your heart, mind, or daily routine that may be making you less sensitive to His Spirit. Be willing to make a change, whether that means walking away from a conversation, turning off a show, or choosing words that reflect His love.
