Psalm 119:130 (NKJV)

““The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”

Devoción

The Bible is no ordinary book. It is filled with the expressed thoughts of the Father, not of any man’s personal interpretation. A more sure word of prophecy, spoken as holy men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit, these words were scribed down. Should we then approach the Word of God with reverence and let it speak to our hearts?

For Jesus Himself is called ‘the Word.’ John 1:1,14 (BSB) says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us...” So important is this living Word of God that when we read the Bible, we are literally ‘fellowshipping with the Word of God.’ Jesus speaks to us through His Word, and our Bible study comes alive!

If we will begin to recognize that the Word of God is powerful and living, we will begin to see restoration in areas and relationships that seemed impossible, starting with our own transformation. Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the Word of God is quick and powerful (living and active), and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into all the truth of His Word. He will teach us how to apply it.

The Bible says that the entrance of His Word gives ‘light’ (yair—Hebrew), meaning illumination, clarity, and understanding. Those who walk in this ‘yair’ bring brightness, hope, positivity, and guidance to others and situations. This darkened world, lost and without hope, could use this light. Matthew 4:16 says, “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” This is a description of Jesus, who entered our world and said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”

How do we carry this light into the world? Catch on fire with it first. Get hungry for His Word and learn His ways. Let the Word of God show you the answer. Listen for His voice in the Scriptures and apply what you read. Your light will be burning so bright, others in deep need and deep darkness will be attracted to it.

Querido Padre Celestial,

Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105). Please show me through Your Word where I currently am, and instruct me where I need to go. Through Your promises, shine hope for my future. You are my light, and I want to walk in the life You promised through Your Word. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
