Living Hope In Trials

Monday, June 10

‭‭1 Peter 1:3-9‬ (NASB)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

In 1 Peter, the apostle Peter writes to believers scattered across various regions, offering words of encouragement and hope during their trials. He begins by reminding them that they are chosen by God, sanctified by the Spirit, and sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. This foundational truth underscores their identity and purpose, even in times of suffering.

Peter emphasizes that through God's abundant mercy, we have been born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This hope is not fleeting or uncertain; it is a living hope, anchored in the reality of Christ's victory over death. Our inheritance, he says, is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us. This assurance provides a profound source of joy and strength, especially when facing life's challenges.

The trials we endure, Peter explains, serve a purpose. They test the genuineness of our faith, which is more precious than gold. Though tested by fire, our faith is refined, resulting in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. It's a powerful reminder that our struggles are not in vain; they are shaping us, proving the depth and authenticity of our faith.

Even though we have not seen Jesus, we love Him and believe in Him. This belief fills us with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for we are receiving the goal of our faith—the salvation of our souls. Peter's words encourage us to hold on to this joy and hope, despite the adversities we face.

As we reflect on this passage, let us remember that we are not alone in our trials. We are part of a larger story of redemption and grace. Our faith, though tested, will result in praise and glory to God. Let this living hope sustain us, knowing that our inheritance in Christ brings new freedom, a new identity, and a new family.

Oración de hoy

Querido Padre Celestial,
Thank you for your precious promises in today's verse. I confess that I often struggle to walk in them, and sometimes I am not even struggling – it's closer to a surrender to the other side. Lord, I repent, and I so desire the gift of full repentance from my double-mindedness. Give me a wholehearted trust in your precious promises. As Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever, I pray that I would be wholehearted in my trust and surrender today, tomorrow, and forever. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
