Matthew 9:37-38 (ESV)
“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Devoción
Sometimes a lesson comes from the least likely places. When reading and hearing the verse above from the message on Sunday, immediately the story of “The Little Red Hen” comes to mind. The story is an old fable that teaches children the value of taking initiative and working hard. In the story, the little red hen was constantly busy working; she was a laborer in the field, planting seed, tending the crop, reaping the harvest, and preparing the meal. Even though she asked earnestly many times who would help her, the others refused, saying “Not I.”
In the same way, the Lord is asking for laborers in His field. He has called ALL of us to plant His seeds in the lives of others, tend and disciple new believers, and those in need, and help reap the harvest in these last days. Many times, we think of God’s call upon our lives as a big, booming call with multiple people speaking His will over us, having a dream or vision, or some flamboyant show to capture our attention. The truth is though, He has already called and equipped you with the tools you need to labor in His field. How are you responding to God’s call? Are you saying, “Not I” with your list of reasons that you can’t, or are you saying, “Here I am, Lord, send me, regardless of the cost?” (see Isaiah 6:8)
It’s time we stop making excuses, roll up our sleeves, put boots on the ground, and get to work for the Kingdom of Heaven.
Oración de hoy
If you are ready to become a worker in God’s field, pray these words from the old song, “Jesus Use Me”.
“Dear Lord, I’ll be a witness, if You will help my weakness. I know that I’m not worthy, Lord, of Thee. By eyes of faith, I see Thee, upon the cross of Calvary, Dear Lord I cry, ‘Let me Thy servant be.’
Jesus, use me, and oh Lord, don’t refuse me, for surely there’s a work that I can do. And even though it’s humble, help my will to crumble, though the cost be great, I’ll work for You.”
In the Name of Jesus, I commit to You. Amen.

After praying the above prayer, ask God to bring to mind those to whom you need to minister. Make a list of their names and the way God is laying on your heart to witness to them, then get out and start reaping the harvest.
