Psalm 96:1 (NLT)

“Sing a new song to the LORD! Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!”

Devoción

This whole psalm, Psalm 96, calls for praise to the LORD because of who He is. It describes all of creation calling out His praise — the earth, heaven, the sea, the crops — all singing out in joy because of the greatness of His glory. Psalm 96 ends with a promise:

"Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he is coming! He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with his truth." (‭12‑13)

Let this be a call to us this Christmas season. Let us sing along with creation to bring praise to Him: Emmanuel, the One who came and dwelled with us; the Word that became flesh; the Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world; the Alpha and the Omega, there from the beginning to the end; the One promised in Psalm 96 — the One who is coming again.

This time, not as a baby born to a virgin, but as the Rider on the White Horse, whose name is Faithful and True. He is coming back, ready to judge fairly and wage a righteous war (Rev. 19:11). This Man, this Almighty God — Jesus is His name.

Let us sing it with joy, shout it with authority, and cling to it with all we have in us, because in this name is hope. In this name is forgiveness. In this name is a promise that nothing we could ever imagine can fulfill. In this name is LIFE.

Querido Padre Celestial,

We thank You for the gift of Jesus, Emmanuel, who came to dwell with us and who will return in glory. Help us to join creation in singing a new song of praise, not just with our voices but with our hearts and lives. Fill us with joy as we celebrate His name—the name above every name. May we cling to this name in times of doubt, fear, and uncertainty, knowing that in it there is hope, forgiveness, and life. In the Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

This Christmas season, take intentional moments to praise Jesus by name—not just as a tradition, but personally. Let your worship be active: sing, speak, or write out the names and attributes of Jesus that bring you hope, and watch how your perspective shifts from fear to joy, from worry to trust.
