Impossible To Stop The Overflow

Colossians 2:7 (NIV)
“Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Devoción
We are called to overflow with thankfulness. When there is overflow it means there is an abundance of whatever is overflowing. If a cup of coffee overflows, there is an abundance of coffee in the cup. When thankfulness overflows, there is an abundance of gratitude in our hearts. It is something that pours forth from our heart with no effort.

In Matthew 12:34 Jesus tells us “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” When we are overflowing with thankfulness, it is so strong that it will be impossible for us to hold back our praise and gratitude. It will be impossible to prevent the overflow of thankfulness from taking over our daily speech and attitude.

When we face hardships, the overflow of thankfulness will help us to maintain a spirit of gratitude in our lives. As we are rooted and strengthened in Jesus, and truly and deeply understand what he has done for us on the cross, it will be difficult to not sing his praises. When we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, it will be impossible to stop the overflow of thankfulness.

Querido Padre Celestial,

I come to You today with a heart of gratitude. I thank You for being a Father who will never leave me nor forsake me. I am eternally in awe and grateful for the precious sacrifice of Your only Son, so that I, too, could become Your child. I appreciate the gift of the Holy Spirit who is ever present to prompt and guide me in the right path. I give You praise for every answered prayer that has been prayed over my family and myself, and for the times we didn’t even realize Your hand was protecting us; body, mind, soul, and spirit. Lord, for all this and so much more, I offer You praise. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
