Hold On To Jesus

Tuesday, May 9

Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
Genesis 32:25-26

Devoción

Do we let go of God too soon … before we've gotten the blessing we seek? God wants us to hold on and wrestle with Him in prayer. Do we cry out with longing? “Lord, what are you willing to do for me? Lord, how long will you hide your face from me? Lord, what is your purpose in my trials and sufferings?”

Jesus longs to bless us. But he also longs to change us through the conversation and wrestling match. It's a mistake to only look for the blessing and not be willing for Jesus to change us in the process. Lord, what is your discipleship goal in these challenges?

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I praise you and glorify your name. Lord Jesus, you are my prince of peace and my light in the darkness. Even when I don’t feel it or see it you’re working. Help me to hold on and not let go. Help me to see beyond my circumstance and find the hidden treasures in this mess. Amen!
