Being directed by the Holy Spirit, the disciples placed upon the new converts no unnecessary burdens or restraints, other than the teachings mentioned. It was encouraging that they would not be liable for the carnal ordinances which could not purify them but had been placed upon them in the past. 

Jesus came to lift our heavy burdens and give us rest. (See Matthew 11:28-30) Somewhere within the world’s culture, following God and His ways has been viewed as a burden when the opposite is actually true. When we follow Him and walk in the path He laid out for us, we walk with a greater sense of peace and joy than we can ever find in the ways of the world. 

We’ve heard many testimonies over the years from those who have been addicted to a sinful lifestyle being set free by the Holy Spirit and now have more joy and peace than they ever knew was possible. When we follow our creator and submit ourselves to that which He created us for, it is then that we truly walk in freedom, even within the confines of a chaotic and sinful world.

Querido Padre Celestial,

I love and thank You for Your gift of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me that I may walk in your ways. I admit that there are times I view my walk with You as a burden, when in actuality the burden comes from satan who ensnares me into sin’s trap thereby causing the burden I bear. I cry out today for Your help. Untangle me from satan’s snares and truly set me free, that I may enjoy Your peace and joy in all circumstances. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
