God Can Use What Is In Your Hands

Exodus 2:7-10 (NKJV)
“Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?” And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the maiden went and called the child’s mother. Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. So she called his name Moses, saying, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

Jochebed, Moses’ mother, faced an impossible situation. Pharaoh had ordered Hebrew boys to be thrown into the Nile, yet she chose to protect her child. She placed Moses in a basket among the reeds and trusted God with his life. God then used the courage and wisdom of Miriam, Moses’ sister. When Pharaoh’s daughter found the child, Miriam offered to find a Hebrew woman to nurse him. That woman was Jochebed herself. She was allowed to care for her own son and was even paid for doing so.
Jochebed had no political influence or military power. She had what was already in her hands: a mother’s love, the ability to care for her child, and the faith to trust God.
God used these ordinary things to preserve the life of the future deliverer of Israel.
This reminds us that God can use what we already have. A skill, a kind word, a listening ear, our home, our time, or simply our willingness to help can become an instrument in His hands. We do not need extraordinary resources to serve an extraordinary God. What seems ordinary to us can become significant when surrendered to God. Like Jochebed, we can faithfully use what He has placed in our hands and trust Him with the outcome.

Take a moment to identify what God has already placed in your hands. Whether it is a gift, skill, resource, opportunity, or simply a willing heart, surrender it to Him and trust Him to use it for His purposes. What may seem ordinary in your hands can make an eternal difference in His.
