Gentle Whispers

1 Kings 19:11-12 NKJV
So Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
Devoción
Sometimes we are looking for God to speak to us in the form of a prominent lit-up sign on the side of the road, a meteor through the sky, or a lightning strike right in front of us. However, the reality is that although sometimes those things do happen, more often than not, God speaks to us through a gentle whisper. The problem is that sometimes we are too busy to hear it.
Hearing God’s voice takes intentionality. It takes carving out time for you and your Maker to pour out your heart, study the Word, pray without ceasing, and then wait and listen. God speaks to our spirit, but we must be patient enough to wait to hear that still small voice above all the noises around us.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
I humble myself before you with a grateful heart, thankful for your still small voice that speaks even in the silence. I surrender to your perfect will for my life. I will wait on you and follow your directions as you lead me on to victory. In Jesus' name, Amen!

How can you carve out intentional time to sit and listen and wait upon the Lord? In the Bible, it says that Jesus went to a desolate place to pray to his Father. Find a space this week where you can spend undistracted and unhindered time with the Lord, and wait on Him to speak with an expectant heart that He can and He will speak to any situation that you may be facing.
