Matthew 5:10 (ESV)
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Devoción
There are times when we will be opposed, slandered, persecuted, or harassed for taking a strong stand against the evils of this world, and speaking out for Godly values. Some will devalue and try to destroy us just because we are Christians who pursue God with all our hearts. But as Jesus states in the focus verse above, we are blessed and will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. He goes on to say in verse 12 that we should rejoice and be exceedingly glad when others come against us for his sake, for great is our reward in Heaven.
We may be strong and stand firm when we are persecuted by the sinful world, but what about when those within the church slander our names and try to ruin our witness with false accusations, or harass us for our obedience to speak God’s truth? We need look no further than to Jesus as our example. The religious leaders not only ridiculed him, but they slandered his name and falsely accused him of wrong intentions, so much so that Jesus called them hypocrites. Those who should have been his most faithful followers and biggest supporters are the ones who were the thorns in his side. But Jesus did not let them hinder his assignment, he kept right on with his God given mission, even in the midst of their harassment.
Have you ever been in a place where those who should be supporting you and lifting you up in prayer are the very ones trying to destroy you and your witness for Christ? It just doesn’t make sense that our brothers and sisters in Christ would set out to ruin God’s call upon our lives. However, we cannot concern ourselves with their wrong motives. Like Jesus, we must never back down, nor allow hatred or bitterness take root within our hearts. We must continue to love and pray for those who persecute us and determine to walk in our assignment from the Lord.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
I thank You for the faithful examples of many godly men and women throughout history who were ridiculed, some even giving their own lives, yet stood firm in their dedication to You. As I grow in my walk with You and the assignments You have for me, I want to be prepared for the persecution that may come my way. Please help me to immediately uplift in prayer those responsible for any hatred toward me. Then, Lord, please help me to let it go and get on with the task to which You have called me. Lead me to walk in love and forgiveness toward my persecutors while keeping my focus on You. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

As you seek to be a living example of the Word of God, you must lay aside the hurts, unforgiveness, and bitterness that others have caused. Today, spend some time praying for those who have wronged you, asking God to help them to turn from the error of their ways and bring His light and blessings to their lives. Seek His wisdom in Your walk with Him so that you can be a light within the dark crevices of this world, that others will see and come to know Him.

- As you listen to, ”Love Like You’ve Never Been Hurt”, be inspired to let go of offenses and walk in the love of God toward those who have hurt you.
- In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus puts strong emphasis on the importance of forgiving others, stating that if we don’t forgive those who wrong us, neither will our Heavenly Father forgive us. Unforgiveness in our hearts has eternal ramifications. As you read these verses, meditate on the seriousness God puts on forgiveness.
