Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Devoción
In Matthew 6, within his teaching of the Sermon on the Mountain, Jesus teaches that our priority in life should be to seek him. In verse 25, he says, “Do not be anxious about your life . . .” He points to the flowers and the birds, stating that his Father cares for them and takes care of their needs, and goes on to allude to the fact that we are more valuable than they, so certainly he will take care of us.
While it is our duty and honor to provide and care for our marriages and families, we can sometimes get so bogged down with striving for more and greater things, that we leave God out of the equation completely or just give Him a few minutes on Sunday. When we do this, it opens the door for all hell to break loose as the enemy wreaks havoc in our lives, marriages, and families.
In today’s feature verse above, Jesus gives us the resolution that will enable us to provide and care for our families with his wisdom and guidance. “Seek God’s Kingdom, right living, goodness, and honor FIRST, and He will then provide for us, what we need at the perfect time.
We need to get back to studying God’s Word and praying both individually and together as a family unit, incorporating those values into our everyday lives. We must integrate his wisdom into our individual lives and our marriages, as well as ensure that they are written on the heart’s of our children. It’s time to stop allowing the enemy to come after us and all that is ours. It’s time to put the first things first; seeking God above all else.

Married (to be prayed together):
Querido Padre Celestial,
We thank You that it was Your will for Jesus to go to the cross. We thank You for Jesus thinking of us, interceding for us, dying for us. Redeem our priorities. Show us how to redeem our priorities and put You first – truly – in our hearts, minds, actions, and not just our words. We confess we're good at pretending to have more godly priorities than we really do. Sometimes we even fool ourselves. Thank You that we can trust that You are not fooled. Help us to accept our correction and discipline, so that we can at least be honest with You and each other, as You adjust our priorities so that we seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness. In the Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Single:
Querido Padre Celestial,
I confess that I read the words, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,” and I'm at a loss on where to begin. Make this simpler for me. Show me one or two things to stop doing. Show me one or two things to start doing. Help me be faithful in building good habits in those things, and once I succeed in those, may You help me with something else. Thank You Heavenly Father. I really want to love You better. Help me to love You better. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Pastor Craig Groeschel encouraged married couples to develop this one life-changing, marriage-growing habit: Pray with your spouse. The single biggest contributing factor to a successful marriage is two who come together and seek the One. If you are single and want a Christ-centered marriage in the future, you need a Christ centered-life today. Call on God concerning the needs, the decisions, the conflicts, and the relationships you have. Try Him and see His goodness and love toward you.
