Finding The Will Of God In The Storm

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

When we’re going through a storm, the reassurance that everything is going to be ok is an anchor for the soul. But where does this reassurance come from?
It comes from knowing that Someone has been and will continue to pray for us, and that His prayers are according to the will of God. The verse preceding today’s scripture says, “Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:27) This is the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
There are treasures hidden, even life lessons prepared for us in the midst of the storm. They were meant to be found and can only be discovered here. A tree that has never experienced the force of wind blowing against it will topple over by its own weight as it grows. Yet if we look inside an old tree and examine the rings of its trunk, we will see where the tree experienced seasons of plenty and seasons of drought. Seasons of strain that caused its roots to reach down deep and grab ahold of the soil beneath it so it can stay upright. This tree has weathered the storms of life that beat against it, and now it has become the nesting place for birds, small critters, insects, and even life itself.
There is a special peace that can be found in the middle of the storm. Only Jesus can give this peace because it belongs to Him. “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
If we seek Him and trust Him here with all our heart and not rely on what we see because it can change, He will lead us to the other side. There is deliverance. If we will first and foremost acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will direct us to the next step to take.
He is looking for us to trust Him enough to obey His voice, to follow His leading. To not be fearful, but to focus on Him and not the storm.
May we find His Presence and experience His peace, as the Apostle Paul did in all his trials, “For I am persuaded (fully convinced) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38,39)
Discover His unshakable love and abide with Him right in the eye of the storm.

I will yet praise You, Lord, for You are the One I trust to be in the storm with me. Your presence comforts me. Cause me to hear Your voice in the morning. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
