Fear Not Your Neighbor

Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Devoción
Have you done a kind thing that was rebuffed or even ridiculed? Your intent was pure but the negative reaction was discouraging? Followers of Jesus are called to love our enemies, to be kind and tenderhearted, and to pray for those who persecute us. This pleases the Lord and shows that we are His children (Matthew 5:43-45). We are to persevere in these acts, and our Father in Heaven will bless us as we do (James 1:25). His ears will be open to our prayers (1 Peter 3:9-12).
As followers of Jesus, we can ask for wisdom to guide our steps. Consider this: you may not know what is going on inside of a person, but Jesus does. Are they sorrowful? Are they bitter? Are they fearful? Are they discouraged? We can be the hands and feet of Jesus to them. At times, we all need mercy. Be wise, but don’t let fear of a negative outward response keep you from demonstrating mercy in the Name of Jesus.

Querido Padre Celestial,
Forgive me for the times I have taken things personally. The rejection of my kindness and extended helping hand, the smile and the gifts given to those that seem undeserving. Help me to make the main thing the thing, and that is honoring you as I show mercy to those in need of it. Give me the grace and the heart to love others as you have loved me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Think of a mean or unpleasant neighbor, relative, boss, co-worker, or classmate. Pray for them. Ask God to show you opportunities to show kindness to them, and then follow through when He does.
