Every Breath

1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
Devoción
In Exodus 3, Moses asks God what His name is, and in Hebrew, this name was translated as YHWH. We know this name to be Yahweh, meaning an eternal God, a constant God. When we try to pronounce this name in English without the added vowels, it sounds like a breath—YH being the inhale and WH being the exhale. Meaning that every time we breathe, we are acknowledging the very existence of our God and our dependence on Him.
A baby’s first cry is a calling out to God. The sighs of a sufferer are wordless appeals to the God who hears. Even when this world brings on trials, uncertainties, burdens, and heartbreaks, even when we are down on our knees in a valley, we are recognizing the Lord. Using the very breath that utters His name, we can turn our brokenness into praise, gratitude, and thankfulness for the salvation and freedom that His love offers us. We can trust in the fact that what the enemy meant to destroy us, the Lord means for our good.
Only He can make broken stories beautiful. Praising the One that saved us from an eternity of agony and misery is the one thing that will cause us to rise again. It is the one thing that will allow us to climb up out of our valley and into His light once more. Sometimes we are one praise away from a breakthrough, one praise away from breaking the shackles that tie us down, and one praise away from healing.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
I praise you with every breath in me. I recognize that you are my ever-present help in times of need, even closer than the air I breathe. Thank you for your assurance today, reminding me that I am yours and I am chosen. I will walk in this identity and live victoriously. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

This week, focus on the everlasting promises from our Father, remembering that He hears us, He sees us, and He loves us more than we could possibly fathom. Find peace in the fact that He is always with us, in each breath that we take, waiting for us to rejoice once more at the comfort of the fact that we are His and that we are chosen.
