Burst Through In Praise

2 Samuel 5:20 NLT
“So David went to the place and defeated the Philistines there. “The Lord did it!” David exclaimed. “He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So he named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”).
Devoción
In 2 Samuel 5, after the Philistines heard that David was anointed as king of Israel, they determined to conquer him and took their position to do so. In verse nineteen, we find David inquiring of the Lord whether he should go to them, asking if He would deliver them into his hands. God told David to go, and He would do as he asked. David obeyed, and the Lord was faithful to help him become victorious over his enemies.
It would have been easy at this point for David’s heart to become puffed up with pride. Think about how often we have seen God work mightily in or through others, only for them to take the glory for themselves. Maybe we ourselves have even taken the glory that belongs to God. But as we see in our focus verse, David didn’t become prideful. In fact, we see his humility as he bursts through with praise, exclaiming, “The Lord did it! He burst through my enemies like a flood!” He immediately gives glory and honor to whom it is truly due.
When we see God’s faithfulness, let’s be sure to burst through in praise for Him, giving Him the glory and honor that He deserves.
Oración de hoy
Querido Padre Celestial,
I give You glory, honor, and praise for Your faithfulness to me over the years. I humbly repent for any time that I have taken the glory that belonged to You alone. Help me to stay humble before You, Father. In the future, as You burst through with victories on my behalf, I will burst through in praise to You, so that others may know that You brought me to victory. I love and honor You, Father. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Sometimes when we are good at something, accomplish amazing feats, or perform the job better than anyone else, others start singing our praises. If we aren't careful, we will receive those accolades and begin thinking more highly of ourselves than we should, rather than pointing to God as the One who gave us the ability and wisdom to succeed. When we do this, it causes pride to well up within us. Ask God to restore you to humility so you may be His witness, always pointing to Him as your source of success. When He bursts through on our behalf, let's immediately burst through with praise to Him.
