When we lose someone we dearly love, there feels like a vacuum in our being that nothing in this world can ever fill. We go about our day unable to fully focus and fully put ourselves on tasks at hand. We have such a big lump in our throat that we have a hard time even eating our favorite dish. Our eyes seem to have a valve that never closes, and at the mention of his or her name, a deluge of tears starts to flow again and never seems to end.
How do you keep loving and living when the reason for waking up each morning is gone? What happens to our plans and dreams for our future? What happens now that she or he is gone?
God heals our deepest wounds. He restores our souls. He comforts those who mourn. We are blessed because God Himself comforts us.
Do not go about your life wounded. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord Himself will comfort and restore you.
God loves us. He knows the depth of our sorrow. When Lazarus died, “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). He understands what we go through. Knowing Christ Jesus our Lord enables us to rise above our grief and put our hope in Him. Someday, we too will be taken up into heaven. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4 NKJV).
Jesus has conquered death!

Querido Padre Celestial,
My heart grieves. I am undone. I miss my loved one. I do not know when this pain will end. I surrender all my hopes and dreams at Your feet, Lord. Help me to overcome my grief and sorrow. Enable me to keep loving those who are here with me now and put my hope in You and the eternal life You secured for all who will declare that You are Lord. I love You, Lord. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Knowing Christ Jesus our Lord assures us of a place in heaven. Put your hope and trust in Him, and believe that on the day we move from this world to eternity, we will see Him face to face, and we will rejoice and praise Him forevermore in heaven with our loved ones and all who came before us. Rejoice in His unfailing love!
