Job 1:1-3 (ESV)
“There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil. There were born to him seven sons and three daughters. He possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, and 500 female donkeys, and very many servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the east.”
Devoción
The book of Job begins by telling us about Job. It states that no evil could be blamed on him because he was an upright man who reverenced God and turned away from evil. Notice that it doesn’t say he was never tempted, but rather he turned away from evil temptations. The word upright means, one who is approved. We know from reading further, that God approved of Job and thought highly of him because Job had a true relationship with Him.
According to Psalm 32:2, “Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, in whose spirit there is no deceit." We can see by the verses above that Job was indeed a blessed man because God put His protection around him and all that was his. It is indeed clear that Job was truly a man of God, as he remained faithful to God, even when the protection was removed. Through it all, Job continued in his steadfast love and devotion to God.
Can God count us among His most faithful? Does He say of us that we are blameless and upright? Is our reverence for Him so strong in us that we turn away from evil, or do we need to step back and take a close look at our relationship with the Lord to determine how we need to adjust our lives?

Querido Padre Celestial,
I thank You for Your love and devotion to me, even when I have fallen short. I truly want to be as devoted to You as Job was, regardless of my situation. Lord, please help me to be ever mindful to live my life in such a way that You can say of me that I am blameless and upright, as I turn away from evil temptations time after time. I seek after that close relationship with You, that will help me to become the person whom You desire for me to be, in the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
