Before The Rain

“It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.

Have you truly thought about Noah and the faith he kept to build the ark? Noah and his family worked together to complete the work of the Lord. This wasn’t a short task or a job that was completed in a year. It was decades upon decades. We can only imagine the kind of faith it took to build the ark. Not only was Noah faithful to the Lord until the door was closed, but his family was, too. Imagine that!

Have you ever had your family help you complete a chore around the house? Yard work or spring cleaning—if it was like most, you probably had to ask your spouse a few times or encourage your children to focus and finish. At that, those are short tasks, jobs we will finish within days, and even then, it’s easy to give up. It’s easy to lose focus and not complete the jobs we start.

Focus and faith allow for endless possibilities with Jesus! When we focus on the work of the Lord, we will keep the faith until the end. Wouldn’t you say Noah had strong, enduring faith? Absolutely! Otherwise, he would have quit when the world started mocking him.

It’s easy to throw in the towel if others do not agree with us or make controversial comments. Let one person laugh or question us, and most are ready to quit. We change our social media post that shows we are WARRIORS OF CHRIST. You get it. We lose focus on what’s important and focus on what isn’t. Then we lose our faith in the Lord before we truly realize we’ve lost our focus.

Noah did not give up. Instead, he gathered all his family and said, “Let’s do this.” Maybe not quite like that, but can’t you hear the excitement in his voice as he explained to his family what they were about to do—the vision? He focused on what the Lord called him to do: every detail, every animal. Noah locked in and worked, keeping his faith.

We are called to lock in, keep the faith, focus on the Father’s business, and get the job done. Not only did Noah save his family because of his faith, but verse seven says he received the righteousness that comes by faith. Righteousness by faith is being innocent in God’s eyes and keeping God’s Word.

It’s easy to say yes and even run the race for a while, but would you continue to build the ark before you ever saw the rain?

Querido Padre Celestial,

Help us to have the faith of Noah—to obey You, stay focused, and keep building even when we cannot see the rain. Give us endurance when others question or discourage us, and help us remain faithful to what You have called us to do. May our faith remain strong until the very end. In the Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
