Be Not Afraid, Only Believe

Mark 5:35-37 (NIV)

“While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?” Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.”

Devoción

Even when your situation seems like a dead end, we are to first not be afraid — we are to believe.

The only reason we are afraid at times is because we have stopped believing. God is faithful. He has been faithful and will continue to be faithful. That is enough.

Even in the face of defeat, we are to continue believing in God for that situation.

Why do we get so wrapped up in our circumstances — as if God was not faithful before? Why are we afraid even if a situation seems beyond repair?

God has been, and still is, able to do what seems impossible. When we stop believing, we start fearing the what, when, where, and why.

When we just believe, we make room for God to do the impossible. Even when your situation looks like a dead end, we are to believe and keep our eyes on our help — on where it comes from — even in the midst of the storm.

God will prevail. He is bigger than any situation we will ever face. If God is with us, who can be against us?

Remember, fear causes torment, but faith brings peace in any and every situation. So, just believe — God will turn it around.

Querido Padre Celestial,

Thank You for reminding me that fear has no place when I trust in You. Help me to fix my eyes on You, to believe even when my situation seems impossible, and to rest in Your faithfulness. Strengthen my faith, Lord, and give me the courage to trust You fully, knowing You are able to do what no one else can. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Identify one area of your life where fear is holding you back. Instead of focusing on the problem, choose to trust God’s power and faithfulness. Take one concrete step in faith, knowing that as you believe, God will move in ways only He can.
