If we seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, we trust that Jesus will provide for our physical needs. Loving God and keeping his commands will reap blessings for a thousand generations (Exodus 20:6). It is a privilege to serve as a father in God's kingdom, reflecting His fatherhood since all fatherhood derives from God (Ephesians 3:15).

There is a temptation to focus on physical things in our efforts to leave an inheritance for our children's children. But if we can become more and more like Jesus, we see Jesus focused on his work as a prophet (bearing God's word), priest (interceding for his children), and servant-king (providing and washing his disciples' feet) in service of those who would inherit his kingdom.

Querido Padre Celestial,

Thank you for giving us the perfect example of true Fatherhood. The blessings of salvation and eternal life can far outlive us into many generations to come, if we continue to seek you and your Kingdom. Help me Lord to be a good steward of the souls you have entrusted me with. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

If you're not a dad yet, ask God to make you into a man after his own heart who will leave an inheritance of blessing. If you're a woman, ask God to help you cooperate with the men in your life as they pursue God's purposes of fatherhood.
