An Impossible Mountain

Sunday, April 7

Zechariah 4:6-7 (ESV)

“Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”

Devoción

Zechariah stood in front of a mountain that he didn’t see any way over or around, as he struggled to complete the work with which God had tasked him. But Zechariah wasn’t standing there alone. God sent an angel to assure him that he would indeed finish the task, not of his own might or power, but by the Spirit of God.

Sometimes, we too stand face to face with a mountain that we don’t see any way over or around, as we face the pressures of life that seem impossible to overcome. We may feel that living a life of faith and doing what God has called us to is simply impossible. The truth is, it is impossible for us if we are relying on our own strength. Those are the times we must press into our all-powerful Father.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us not to depend on ourselves, rather “trust in Him with all our hearts, submit fully to Him, and He will make our paths straight.” Just as God sent this message to Zerubbabel many years ago, He is sending this message to you, personally, today.

Remember, when you can’t make the climb, He will either hoist you up and over, or cut the mountain down as you walk through the circumstance with Him.

Oración de hoy

Querido Padre Celestial,
I praise You for all the times that You have come to my rescue when I faced mountains that I could not climb. You have been ever faithful to me, and I am forever grateful. When I stand face to face before an impossible mountain, help me to not get discouraged or fearful, rather, remind me to press into You and hear Your instructions. As I walk hand in hand with You, I know that I will overcome whatever the world or the enemy places in my path. I will neither stumble nor falter when I hold onto You. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
