Hundreds of years before John the Baptist was born, Isaiah prophesied that John would be the forerunner to Jesus, our Savior, and His ministry. It's interesting to note that even though John had this great ministry mandate upon his life, he was not sent to the synagogues or the temples to be trained by the religious leaders; rather, he was sent into the wilderness so God could prepare him.

Just as David had an intimately close relationship with God when he was out in the fields with only his father's sheep, so did John hear the direction of the Lord for his life in the wilderness. We can only imagine the time John spent communing with his Heavenly Father, as He spoke within John His wisdom, gave him strength for his purpose, and placed upon him the gift of prophecy so that he could fulfill the mission for which he was created.

Do you feel called but also feel unqualified? Get alone with God for those intimate times and continuously commune with Him. He will provide you with all you need to fulfill His purpose for your life.

Querido Padre Celestial,

I thank You that all my days have been ordered by You. Even though I may have lost sight of the vision, I ask that You restore me to my purpose for Your Kingdom. I want to be all that You have destined me to be. I surrender my will and plans to You, that I may be used as an instrument for Your glory. In humility, I will always give glory, honor, and praise to You, Father, for all You do through me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Has God given you insight into what He wants you to accomplish for His Kingdom: a prophetic word, your giftings revealing His purpose, or do you just have a knowing in your heart? Just as God told Habakkuk in Habakkuk 2:2 to write the vision down and make it plain, be encouraged today to write down your vision and revisit it often to pray over it and seek God’s guidance, directions, and open doors. Spend time "in the wilderness" praying bold prayers and communing with your Heavenly Father as He prepares you to see it through.
