1 Samuel 16:11-12 NKJV
And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.” So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!”
Devoción
The Lord told the prophet Samuel to go to Bethlehem, offer a sacrifice and from among Jesse’s sons anoint His chosen king. Jesse presented his seven eldest sons and had Samuel not been attuned to God’s voice, he would have anointed one of them. But God whispered to him that none of these were the one, so he sent for David, who had been about his father’s business of tending the family sheep. When David walked in, the Lord said to Samuel, “Arise, anoint him, for this is the one.”

Why would God choose a shepherd boy to be the next king of Israel? God simply looked upon his heart. You see, as David went about his duties, he sang praises to the Lord, communed with Him, enquired of Him, and listened to His whispers. When God wants to guide us to our next step, He looks upon our hearts to know if we are prepared.

In what spiritual condition does He see your heart? Do you commune with Him as you go about your day? Are you about your Father’s business? Do you enquire of Him and listen to His instructions?

Querido Padre Celestial,
I offer You my deepest gratitude and adoration for your goodness. Lord, I surrender my life to You, as I humbly ask for a fresh whisper from You concerning my family, that I may pray for and minister to them according to Your perfect will. Give me a fresh word that I may draw closer to you and speak Your wisdom into their lives and all others. May they see You in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
