A Song Of Trust

Psalm 40:1-3 (NKJV)
“To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD.”

In today’s scripture passage, the Psalmist beautifully expresses his experience of waiting on the Lord and receiving divine rescue and renewal. It's a testament to God's faithfulness and goodness towards those who trust in Him.

The Psalmist begins by acknowledging the virtue of waiting patiently for the Lord. Waiting can be difficult, especially when we're in desperate need of deliverance or guidance. But as we wait, we cultivate trust and reliance on God's perfect timing.

The imagery of being lifted out of the slimy pit and set on solid ground is powerful. Just as the Psalmist experienced physical rescue, God also rescues us from the depths of despair, sin, and hopelessness. He establishes us on the unshakable foundation of His love and grace. When God intervenes in our lives, He doesn't just rescue us; He transforms us. That is why the negative is necessary as Pastor Javon preached! God places a new song in our mouths—a song of praise and thanksgiving. Our experiences of God's faithfulness become a testimony that draws others to trust in Him.

Lastly, the Psalmist recognizes that his deliverance and praise will not go unnoticed. As we declare God's goodness and faithfulness, others will see and be inspired to trust in the Lord. Our testimonies have the power to lead others into deeper faith and relationship with God. In sharing our stories of deliverance and praise, we contribute to the collective testimony of God's unfailing love and mercy, inviting others to experience His transformative power in their own lives.

Querido Padre Celestial,
I admit that there are parts of my life that I am hesitant to share with others. Some of my deepest hurts, I would rather keep hidden. My biggest failures, I don’t want to admit to others. However, if You can use them to help someone else come to You or grow in their spiritual walk, help me to be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and share the worst parts of my journey with them. If I can light the way for another, I am willing. Thank You, Father, for seeing fit to use my story to bless others. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
