A Promise For Our Generation

Friday, August 16

Acts 2:39 (NKJV)
“For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Devoción
The promise of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was not just a miracle for the day of Pentecost, it is for all believers. It wasn’t a single event that took place. Peter specifically tells his listeners in our main scripture today, that the promise is for them, their children (the next generation), and all who are far off – generations to come who would be brought near through the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 2:13).

This means the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the power it provides is still available to us today! We can be filled with the Spirit’s power, wisdom, and guidance in every aspect of our lives. As Christians, we should pray, seek, and expect the outpouring of the Holy Spirit because the promise is for all generations, including our generation.

Querido Padre Celestial,

Thank You for Your promise of Your Holy Spirit. I confess I often rely on my own strength, and when that fails, I turn too quickly to other people or money rather than crying out for the love, power and guidance of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You that You are a good, good Father who gives Your Holy Spirit to those who ask. Father, baptize me in Your Holy Spirit. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Did you know that the disciples were filled again with the Holy Spirit when they needed it? Consider Acts 4:31. After they got in trouble for doing good and sharing the Gospel, they were worn out and distressed about the threats they were receiving. They gathered to pray, and “the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.” God is so good! It is not a lack of faith to ask again for the Holy Spirit. So ask, and let God provide.
