1 Samuel 4:19 (NKJV)
“His daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant and near the time of delivery. When she heard the news that the ark of God had been captured and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she went into labor and gave birth, but was overcome by her labor pains.”
Devoción
This verse tells of a time when Israel was in deep trouble. The ark of God, a symbol of His presence, had been captured. There was death, despair, and a feeling that all hope was lost. It mirrors the times we are living in today with high crime rates, broken families, economic struggles, and many feeling abandoned and lost. It is easy to feel like God's presence has left us, just as Phinehas’ wife felt in her grief. But there is hope.
Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ was born when the world seemed dark and lost. The people were oppressed, corruption was widespread, and many were hopeless. Yet, amid that darkness, a Savior was born in a humble manger. Jesus’ birth reminds us that God has not forgotten us. He sees our pain, hears our cries, and responds with His love.
The same Jesus who was born to save the world is still alive today, offering hope to the hopeless, joy to the brokenhearted, and light to those in darkness.
This Christmas season, remember that no matter how hard life gets, Jesus came to bring peace, healing, and restoration. He was born when the world seemed lost, and he is still here for us in our struggles. Trust him to bring new life to what seems broken. Share this hope by reaching out to those in prisons, hospitals, or struggling with addictions.

Do you still have some time before you return to a regular schedule?
