Ezekiel. 43:12,13 | John 15:5. | Joel 2:28. | Mark 16:18

Introducción

Today we’ll explore the message by Pastor Jentezen Franklin. The message encouraged us to

recognize the limits of human effort and the absolute necessity of God’s supernatural

intervention—the “seventh hand.” From Ezekiel 43:12, we are reminded that the law of the

temple is holiness, and even in our most gifted, innovative, and determined moments, our six

hands can only build so much. It is the seventh hand—God’s hand—that brings true

transformation, eternal value, and divine help. This word challenges us not to rely solely on

human strength but to invite God’s Spirit into our lives, families, and nation.

  • What stood out to you from this message?
  • Where in your life do you sense you need the “seventh hand” of God right now?

The Significance of the Cubit and Human Effort

The cubit is a biblical measurement rooted in the human body, defined as the length from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger—six handbreadths in total. In Hebrew, the word for cubit, ammah, means “mother,” pointing to its role as the fundamental measure of human effort and creativity.

Beyond these biblical examples to modern times, our ingenuity has only expanded. We design and build airplanes that defy gravity, launch space shuttles to explore the cosmos, and create intricate phones with technology that fits in our pocket. We have even gone so far as to give life to disembodied voices like Siri and Alexa that listen and respond to our commands. All of these are products of human thought, research, and form—all are built with our "cubits."

However, the sermon teaches that while we can achieve so much with our own measurements, our efforts are inherently limited without God’s intervention.

"These are the measurements of the altar in cubits (the cubit is one cubit and a handbreadth). The base one cubit high."Ezekiel 43:13 NKJV

The key here is the addition of the handbreadth to the standard cubit. This small, seemingly insignificant addition represents God’s presence and divine measure perfecting and completing the human measure. It shows that while we are capable of building with our own "cubits," it is only when we add God's "handbreadth" of grace and guidance that our work becomes holy, sacred, and truly complete.

  • What is the symbolic importance of the "handbreadth" in Ezekiel 43:13, and how does it relate to the idea that human effort alone is insufficient?
  • Personal Reflection: Can you think of a time in your own life where you felt a project or goal, which was a product of your own "cubits," was incomplete or needed a "handbreadth" of divine intervention to succeed?
  • How can we invite God's guidance into our everyday projects—like building, creating, or problem-solving?

The Seventh Hand As Gods Power

God’s law for the building of the altar is one cubit and a handbreadth. Pastor Franklin points out that one cubit, or six handbreadths, represents human effort—what man can do. The seventh handbreadth represents God’s help to mankind. John 15:5 tells us:

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (NKJV)This verse reminds us that we need God’s help in our lives—we need His seventh, nail-scarred hand.

The genesis of man is impressive, yet there are some things we cannot do without God. When His hand is added to our effort, powerful things happen. Our God is omnipresent; He is everywhere, all the time. He watches over governments, cities, and individuals. He will guide and protect our loved ones when we cannot. He can bless a business and heal the sick when the most talented doctors have done all they can.

God can change the heart of an enemy. He empowers His people to rise in revival. He heals the broken hearts of those who have lost loved ones. His love transcends time. He is the unchanging, ever-faithful God, filled with love for His people. He is always willing and eager to lend His seventh hand to lift His people into salvation.

  •  Can you share a time when God’s seventh hand was at work in your life or that of a loved one?
  • In what areas of your life have you been relying only on your own “six handbreadths” of effort, and how can you invite God’s seventh hand to bring strength and breakthrough?
  • How does remembering that “without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5) change the way you approach challenges, relationships, or responsibilities this week?

The Call to Action For The Next Generation

During the message, Pastor Jentezen Franklin talked with urgency...urging this generation to embrace boldness and moral clarity, to stand unashamedly for their faith in a world that often pulls them in every direction. Talking mainly to those that were in the young adult age of their lives, he paints a vivid picture of revival, not just a fleeting moment but a movement, sparked by the courage to say, “Here I am, Lord. Use me.” He leans on the story of Elijah from 1 Kings 18:44, which says:

“And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.” (KJV)

After six failed attempts to spot hope on the horizon, this seventh look revealed a cloud the size of a man’s hand—a small sign of God’s massive, incoming power. Pastor Franklin connects this to today’s youth, declaring that they’re on the cusp of a spiritual awakening, a “gully washer” of God’s Spirit ready to pour out salvation and miracles across college campuses and beyond. This isn’t just a call to action; it’s a challenge to be a generation set apart, carrying God’s love and truth with unwavering conviction, fueled by that divine seventh hand that transforms what they can’t do alone.

  • How can you personally invite the "seventh hand" of God into an area of your life where you feel your own efforts are falling short, and what specific step can you take this week to surrender that area to His guidance? (Reflecting on Pastor Franklin’s message about the seventh hand representing God’s power beyond human effort, as illustrated in 1 Kings 18:44.)
  • What does boldness and moral clarity look like for you in your current environment (school, work, or community), and how can you inspire or support others in your generation to stand unashamedly for their faith? (Connecting to the sermon’s call for young people to lead a spiritual awakening with courage and conviction.)

Conclusión

Pastor Franklin’s message reminds us that no matter how skilled, talented, or determined we may

be, there comes a point where human effort alone is not enough. It takes the “seventh hand” of

God to heal our homes, guide our children, revive our nation, and empower us to live boldly for

Christ. Just as Elijah’s servant saw a cloud the size of a man’s hand that carried the promise of

rain, we too can believe that God’s hand is moving—even when it begins small, it is loaded with

His power and blessing. This is a call for a generation to rise in faith, consecrated and

courageous, trusting God to do what only He can do. May we hold fast to His promise in

Numbers 6:24-25: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you

and be gracious to you.” With God’s hand upon us, revival and blessing are not only

possible—they are certain.

Discussion Question

  • In what specific area of your life do you need to stop relying solely on your “six hands” and invite the “seventh hand” of God to work?

Call to Action

This week, let’s not just hear about the “seventh hand” of God—let’s invite it into our lives. Each of us can accomplish things with our own effort, but without God’s hand, our work will always fall short. Whether it’s in our families, our careers, our health, or our faith, we are being challenged to surrender those areas where we’ve been relying only on our “six handbreadths.”

As a group, let’s commit to:

  • Identifying one specific area where we need God’s seventh hand to step in.
  • Actively surrendering that area to Him in prayer this week.
  • Walking in boldness and faith, remembering that His hand brings revival, healing, and breakthrough beyond what we could ever accomplish on our own.

Let’s step out of self-reliance and into Spirit-reliance, trusting God to do what only He can do.

Prayer of Jabez

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NKJV)

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!”
